The Diamond Burr is an essential handheld instrument in veterinary ophthalmology, primarily used for the treatment of spontaneous chronic corneal epithelial defects (SCCEDs) or indolent ulcers in dogs and cats. The ultra-fine diamond-dusted tip gently and safely debrides the dead or non-adherent loose epithelial edges of the ulcer. This micro-abrasion process effectively stimulates healthy new corneal cells to migrate and adhere properly, without causing any damage to the underlying deeper stromal layers.
